What adds to the sense of shock(and, in some quarters, outrage), is that she wore the dress in exactly the same way each time ... this was Wintour simply putting the same dress on, with the same accessories, three times in the same week.
Call the fashion police! Wait, she is the fashion police. As they say in this article:

But, seriously, THREE times with the same accessories? This is a woman with unlimited access to accessories. (access...accessories...not getting it). I realize its not CNN newsworthy but its fashion newsworthy and it is highly irregular.
I just keep thinking how nice it must be to the one who can do whatever and have people falling all over themselves to explain why its totally OK, where if anyone else were to try it they would scorned mercilessly.

me thinks the news people should find better content. but yeah, the "style statement" statement is more thought provoking than the style statement itself.
